The house sited on an existing shop in a very crowded semi urban locality in Kadawatha. The Clients wanted their home to be a private and homely oasis amidst the crowded bustle of their busy locality. This presented an acute design challenge, but nonetheless was also typical for residential briefs in dense urban contexts. The design solution that evolved for the project is envelope the private areas which are facing to the road with a framed bamboo blind façade. This facade attempts to redefine the idea of a “high wall”. While providing privacy and security, it's shifting aesthetic and play of light and shadow at different times of the day, provide a modern twist to the typical facades found in the neighborhood.
