A Family Holiday Retreat in Rural Dambulla, Sri Lanka. The clients for this project live in Colombo for years and sought a homestead —for their retirement plan. The clients need a place where they can get away from busy city life and rest, calm their minds.

The project consists of two structures. First one is the single storey two bedrooms retreat (1500sqft) with an open living area with the uninterrupted view of paddy field. In order to create a fresh living environment, close to nature and the surrounding environment, all the rooms were designed spaciously, to capture the view of nature and satisfy modern life, all the necessary amenities were given to all rooms.

Second one is the single storey Service building with maids’ room, driver’s room, a kitchen and two stores.

The Client requested “rustic, modern retreat” for their 3-acre property.  So, the main concept of the build was linear house with high gable roof. To avoid the monotonous feeling roof break on two points. All the walls are finished with smooth cement render. IN this way design tries to accomplish that rustic modern finish.
